Fish for a Bargain in Estepona

The Spanish fishing town of Estepona is starting to attract more and more British overseas property investors every year.

Most investors considering the Costa del Sol have traditionally looked towards famous resorts such as Marbella, Malaga and Puerto Banus, but those looking for a bargain have started exploring the full extent of the Costa del Sol.

Estepona is located just a short drive from Marbella, situated near Puerto Banus, and is becoming popular with Spanish locals and overseas property investors alike.

Formally a traditional fishing town, Estepona offers the authentic Spanish feel and is home to a community of Spaniards with little expat tourists. Recent years have seen the town rejuvenated with coffees shops and landscaped parks dotted throughout.

The town has its own marina surrounded by locally owned restaurants, shops and beautiful beaches. A year-round temperate climate makes Estepona a perfect destination to own a property for holidays and investment rental.

Boasting no less than five golf courses, including the Estepona Golf Resort, the town has much to offer golfers, offering rental opportunities in the early months of the year.

There are also a large number of locally owned restaurants offering international cuisine such as Italian and French as well as traditional Spanish.

Families can find plenty to occupy them in Estepona also. There are two Blue Flag award winning beaches. The first being the small cove of Playa Del Cristo which is to the West of the town, and the other being the long sandy La Rada Beach to the East of Estepona marina.

Stunning mountains and valleys offer a great hiking experience and further attractions such as the Selwo Safari Park, home to over 2,000 animals, are available for days out.

Estepona offers a lot more for your money than its close neighbours Marbella and Puerto Banus.

Apartments close to the coastline set in communal gardens with a pool can be purchased for less than £110,000.

For those with slightly more to spend, new build villas and townhouses can be found in gated developments for around £220,000.

For those golfers looking for a round in the early spring sunshine, properties can be found on or around the award-winning courses from under £170,000 or on club resorts offering extra facilities such as gyms, indoor pools and a bar for a bit more expense.

Despite its increasing popularity, Estepona remains relatively small and quintessentially Spanish, offering the opportunity for British overseas property investors a chance to enjoy the Spanish culture.
